DPS Documentary DVD now available

This documentary tracks the work of one DPS group, as they prepare to perform a Scarlatti Sonata from memory without ever practicing it on the piano, prepare dinner, and explore the art of piano-playing with the perspective of the Body/Mind/Heart.
This group of five pianists was chosen from a pool of hundreds to participate in the finals of the American Pianists Association competition. Before beginning the competitive part of the auditions, they gathered together with Frederic Chiu to explore aspects of collaboration and creativity, a highly unusual approach to both piano competitions and to piano-playing in general.
The DVD also offers bonus material: exclusive video performances of Stephen Beus and Spencer Meyer, two of the participants who have been prize-winners in many international piano competitions. And performances by Frederic Chiu. Composers performed include Bach, Debussy, Schubert, Liszt and Prokofiev.
